Not too long ago, the concept of multiple streams of internet income was a very cutting edge, out-of-the box ideal that most entrepreneurs could only dream of actualizing. Now, it is becoming a necessity for business owners to proactively implement marketing strategies that diversify their income as much as possible.
The truth of the matter is that our world is changing at an astonishing rate. We have entered a paradigm in which increasing numbers of business owners are generating income through the exchange of information rather than through a tangible product or service.
This trend will only continue. The entrepreneurs that are adapting to this new paradigm realize that ‘every business is an information marketing business.’, as the famous online marketer Alex Mandossian says. What this means is that you need to offer or sell information about your business before you sell your actual product or service.
This is exactly what web 2.0 marketing is all about– attracting targeted customers through offering them information, resources, and guidance on the front end and then selling your services or products on the back end. Now, this is precisely how you can create multiple income streams online.
How you do this depends on your industry. Since I specialize in helping network marketers create successful businesses, let’s use this industry as an example. 95% of the people you propose your business to will say no on the front end. But if you offer them some guidance and support first by sharing different resources and trainings, you can build a relationship with them, establish trust, and then promote your primary company on the back end.
When you offer various resources, you make affiliate commissions as a way to maintain cash flow, since the vast majority of your leads will not join your primary company. This is the essence of attraction marketing– you create multiple streams of income by positioning yourself as a trusted leader and mentor on the front end, and then offering your primary business opportunity on the bank end. Brilliant if I do say so myself.
This same principle applies to any business that is marketing online. If you are a coach, your goal is to transcend trading your service for dollars. In order to build passive income, you could:
- create information products
- offer your list affiliate products that you endorse
- create a membership program
- do live events, record them, and sell them to your list
The possibilities are endless. To many entrepreneurs, doing things like creating information products or a membership program is a totally radical concept that triggers resistance or doubt. If that is the case for you, I really encourage you to get over it. These strategies are no longer luxuries to implement into your business; they are a crucial foundation upon which to build a platform that conveys expertise and leadership.
When you create new online income streams, you are positioning yourself differently than most of your competitors. Like I said, most of us are stubborn to change.. which means we are resisting the alarming rate at which marketing and business is evolving… which means we will be left in the dust.
The businesses that did NOT struggle in this recession are the ones who have adapted to the information age. I, for one, have had my best year ever this year and it’s 100% due to the fact that I have about 20 sources of income that all FEED back into my primary businesses to position me as a leader. That, my friend, is what you want to do.
If you’re in network marketing, don’t just pitch your business. Learn attraction marketing. If you’re in sales, don’t just sell. Create a platform of leadership and expertise by affiliating with different companies and resources and making commissions. Create your own information products that do the selling for you.
This is a critical key to success that will only become more important over the next few years. Ride the wave and prosper!
