On a fairly regular basis, I get people asking me questions like this:
‘I have been marketing online/doing affiliate marketing/in a network marketing company for a few months now and I’m just not seeing the results. I have learned keyword optimization, social media strategies, blogging, and Google adwords. I am trying my hardest to build my list and get a following, but it isn’t working. What am I doing wrong? Why can’t I seem to make much money?’
And my answer is always the same: You aren’t providing enough value. That’s the only problem in this situation. You always have to come back to the question, how am I really helping people? I hate to say it, but many people turn to online or network marketing to help themselves. They want a better financial situation, more time freedom, and to do things on their terms. But they often forget that the only way to help oneself is to help as many people as possible.
True financial freedom does NOT come from trying to secretly squeeze yourself in between transactions as an affiliate or using aggressive tactics to recruit people into your organization. There is no value being offered in these approaches whatsoever, yet many people are doing exactly this in their online marketing approach.
Your main intention in online marketing should be to help as many people as possible. It is not about you; it is about other. You want to be transparent in your marketing. Be yourself. Make real connections and show people up front how you can help them.
A great example of this is Frank Kern. This guy makes millions a year from online marketing and has a huge following because he is so transparent in his marketing. You can tell that he genuinely likes helping people and because of this, his products are in high demand and people basically do whatever he says. He doesn’t hide anything. He’s just himself–take it or leave it. This makes his followers feel like he’s a normal guy who they can relate to.
Getting the right marketing knowledge and skill is absolutely vital to your success. But just as important is the greater intention you have behind your marketing. Are you really in this to help? Are you using online marketing to connect more deeply with your life’s purpose and to share your gifts with the world? Or are you here to make some money and lurk behind the shadows? There is a BIG difference between the two–and it’s getting harder and harder to make money online when you take the latter approach.
Who makes the most money in online marketing? Trainers, coaches, information product creators, mentors, and leaders. Why? Because they are offering the highest level of value possible. They are sharing knowledge that directly leads to the betterment of their followers.
You want to position yourself in the same way. Become a leader and innovator, someone who is really committed to identifying your unique power and genius and wants to use the internet to transmit these incredible qualities to as many people as possible.
What is the best way to do this? Get set up on a wordpress blog and brand yourself. Share information on a regular basis that is solely intended to help people live better lives. Allow any business relationships to develop naturally out of this process. Don’t force it. Connect first through sharing value. This will literally attract people who want to partner up with you in your company, buy your products, or trust your affiliate recommendations.
If you are not seeing the results you want in online marketing, reflect on these words carefully. There is likely something within this message that needs to be acknowledged. I hope this helps to take your online business to a higher level of success and fulfillment.

Hi kevin,
I really like your site, much of what you say is in alignment with what I have been putting together in my own head these past months. The above article is pretty much what I was planning to say in an blog post myself. We’re on the same page. I’ve only just started my blog in the last few days, so there’s not a lot there to see just yet (no opt in box, no plug ins, no nothin’!), but I’ll be posting every day from now on. Good to connect with you, ‘bro, I saw your url in David’s skype group call archive. I look forward to reading your book.
Best wishes, Adam, Brighton, England
